Let's Shape Our Future

KCP is invested in the Future... We're invested in our youth.

Investing in our youth isn't just a good idea—it's essential. Empowered young people drive innovation, foster unity, and ensure that our communities thrive. We are aware that life skills, education, mentoring, and entrepreneurship leads to success. Which is why Kush, Communities, and Partners is bringing the Yung Warrior Rites of Passage and LITPRO literacy to the Yung Warrior Tribes across the country. Our goal is to invest and inspire others to follow our lead because this is not just any investment, it's an investment in shaping our future.

The Yung Warrior Rites of Passage Program

The History of our Successful Life Skills Strategy

20 years ago, our co-founder developed a curriculum for underserved Black and LatinX youth in Watts, Los Angeles, CA. The program taught intra-personal and inter-personal skills to a group of middle school age youth. The program results were historic. We assessed the youth once they reached "21" and none of them experienced pregnancy, engaged in substance abuse, were involved in community violence, or had served time in prison. All of them were gainfully employed and/or enrolled in a trade program, university bachelors program, or associates college degree program.

Today, the pressure to live up to the unrealistic "virtual success" depicted in our social media has catapulted our youth mental health crisis. In response, we've worked for the past 7 years to advance the curriculum to meet the needs of today's youth. While much has changed in the past 20 years, what remains is that in order to succeed in this world, you must Love yourself and know how to interact with people that think and see the world differently.

Becoming A Warrior

Success Is Your Birth Rite.

  • Mentoring, Advocacy, Role Models

Our Warriors are paired with Mentors that have mastered the self-discipline, emotional intelligence, and inter-personal skills necessary to succeed academically, professionally, and in their personal lives. This is the true test of a warrior and our mentors are undefeated. We work with warriors and their families to advocate for success. We attend school conferences, spend time with the warriors during our weekend and summer activities, provide one on one coaching, and work with future warriors to ensure that they earn their own Rites and have the opportunity to prepare the next generation of warriors.

  • Intra-Personal and Intra-Personal Life Skills

The first mastery skills of a warrior are Self-Love (Intra-Personal) and Social (Inter-Personal). Warriors complete extensive training in both skill sets through a series of interactive lectures and activities. Warriors learn to interact with people of other backgrounds, ethnicities, and perspectives to ensure that they are grounded and duly prepared to navigate the world and succeed without having to compromise or assimilate their own values, beliefs, and life experiences.

  • Wellness

The saying is, "Health is Wealth". Well, a warrior believes that "Wellness is Success". Success requires that we are mentally stable, in physical shape, properly nourished, emotionally intelligent, and able to control our impulses and desires. Once we've mastered all of this, we have to have a realistic plan. To earn their Rites, warriors also master their wellness. You'll learn everything from self-care and emotional intelligence, to strategic life planning and reproductive anatomy, to leadership and business. You will succeed.

LITPRO

Everyday Literacy Skills

Literacy is critical to the future success of our communities. It’s not just about knowing how to recognize and write words. LIT PRO is a practical literacy skills program designed to enhance reading, writing, and communication skills that can be applied to daily life. The program is tailored to young men and women grades 5 through 10. Each session advances reading comprehension, vocabulary development, grammar, and creative writing skills using a combination of technology and media.
